This expansion introduces a 7th district to Night City: the Badlands. The Badlands District is adjacent to Westbrook, Santo Domingo, and Pacifica. Its unique point of interest grants the player controlling it all 3 benefits of regular points of interest at the same time. While it may become the most coveted point of interest in the game, the Badlands also offers no district rewards.

The expansion also introduces 2 new gangs for Gangs of Night City: Aldecaldos and Wraiths. They distinguish themselves from Core Box gangs with modified player actions and a more complex set of unique abilities. The Aldecaldos start with a single hideout in the Badlands and do not build any more hideouts throughout the game. This means they cannot earn any Night City district rewards because domination requires hiding. They also can't earn any in the Badlands because that district doesn't provide rewards. The Wraiths struck hard and fast around the Badlands, preventing any other players from claiming district rewards. Although they have no home in Night City and must regroup in the Badlands after each RECLAIM, playing the Wraiths makes you an extremely dangerous opponent, and your opponents must do their best to stay at home. stray from your warpath.

A new player story, Land Grab asks players to take sides in a political conflict over the state of the Badlands. Players can choose to support the cause or rebel against it. Lose your house but make a quick buck, or try to defend it against a big corporation that may have just a little more firepower than you think? The choice is yours.
