As poverty spreads, many people lose faith in their ability to lead and seek freedom from the crown. Since he found favor in his eyes, our future has also become uncertain. As viscounts, we must demonstrate wisdom and determination. Loyalty must be respected, but winning the favor of the people must be our priority, in the event of a sudden change of power.

The goal of the Viscounts of the Western Kingdom is to be the player with the most victory points (VP) at the end of the game. Points are earned by constructing buildings, writing manuscripts, working at the castle, and acquiring title deeds for new land. Players start with a handful of townsfolk, but must quickly seek out more suitable talents to advance their plans. With each turn, they travel the kingdom, seeking to increase their influence in different sectors of society. The game ends when the kingdom reaches poverty or prosperity - or potentially both!
